Conference Venue

PhDs in Logic XI will take place at the Exakte Wissenschaften building of the University of Bern.

Travel to Bern

The City of Bern is situated in the heart of Switzerland and can easily be reached by air, rail or road.
Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, and its currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF). You can find here information about visas, should you need one.
From your first overnight stay in a tourist accommodation in Bern, you will receive a Bern ticket for your whole stay, which will allow you travel for free on public transport.

Accommodation

A limited number of rooms in the Students Lodge Fellergut are available for the conference. The available rooms are in category 6 (single rooms with shared bathroom), and the cost for a stay from April 23rd to April 27th is CHF 230 (ca. 205 EUR). An additional deposit of CHF 100 (ca. 89 EUR) will be required.

IMPORTANT: The deadline for making a reservation is on the 25th of February, 2019.
A single ride from the Conference Venue to the Student Lodge costs CHF 4.60 (Einzelbillette 2. Klasse 1-2 Zonen). Therefore, we suggest to those who will stay at the Student Lodge to purchase a Mehrfahrtenkarte instead (6 rides for CHF 25). There are various accommodation options in Bern: hotels, bed and breakfast, campings, apartments and hostels.
To limit accommodation expenses, we recommend sharing an apartment with other students during the conference (see also Airbnb).
Should you face any issues in finding an accommodation do not hesitate to contact the organizers.

Social Events

The welcome reception on Wednesday will take place at the Institut für Mathematische Statistik und Versicher (Alpeneggstrasse 22).
The social dinner on Thursday will take place at Restaurant Zunft zu Webern (Gerechtigkeitsgasse 68).
